Advanced technologies for efficient usage of scarce radio resources

Utilization of communication systems and wireless equipment that use radio waves is increasing toward a ubiquitous network society. Accordingly, radio waves are getting crowded in the bands lower than 6 GHz, which are used by mobile phones and wireless LAN systems. In an attempt to ease and eliminate the radio wave congestion, Wireless System Laboratory has been engaged in research and development of the following technologies; dynamic spectrum modulation/demodulation to flexibly control the radio wave spectra; spacial signal processing to eliminate interference at undesired locations and to concentrate radio waves at the desired location or direction; and, medium access control protocols for the use of the above technologies.
